Located at the base of the Sierra Nevada Mountain range, Lodi is approximately 100 miles east of San Francisco and 35 miles south of Sacramento. A major winegrowing region since the 1850’s, Lodi is home to over 100,000 acres of premium vineyards farmed by more than 750 growers. \r\n
\r\n
\r\nTo many, Lodi is predominantly known as a red wine region, proudly holding the self-proclaimed title of \"Zinfandel Capital of the World”. Although it's true that the Lodi of today is flush with remarkable reds and intense old vine Zinfandels, its white wines are just as impressive. Due to its unique Mediterranean climate, Lodi is capable of producing the gamut of white wines. From mineral-laden Iberian wines like Garnacha Blanca to rare, food-friendly varieties like Gewürztraminer, to classic staples like Sauvignon Blanc, to full-bodied, exotically scented versions of Viognier - Lodi has it all when it comes to world-class white wines. \r\n
\r\n
\r\nOther popular white varieties grown in the Lodi region include Albariño, Kerner, Roussane, Vermentino, Symphony, and Verdelho. Over the past decade, creative, new vintners have begun to experiment with Lodi’s many white varieties, resulting in today’s production of exceptional varietal wines and intriguing blends. \r\n

So you’ll be pleasantly surprised by winemaker Markus Niggli’s dry take on this German classic, and even more surprised to learn that this is 100% pure warm-climate Lodi fruit. Taking you right to the cutting edge of what’s being poured in the hottest restaurants, Nuvola – Italian for “cloud” – serves up signature flavors of lychee, but with a healthy lemon twist bringing an exciting liveliness, accompanied by delicate honeysuckle and the skin of green apple on top of refreshing salty minerality. For an incredible pairing, we’d ask for a big bowl of creamy Butternut Squash soup topped with whisps of toasted onions and a dollop of crème fraiche. \r\n
